Not common. Anime is not real life, it's fantastic.
You will see more young people in areas like Tokyo, with colored hair, but it is still rare. Most have black hair, black / brown.
Japanese students tend to dye their hair the same color as we are (or are trying to do) that in the spectrum are the blonde to dark brown. Sometimes you see someone who dyed hair brown / red.
